Yasser El Mallawany is a Non-Executive Board Member at EFG Hermes KSA and the Non-Executive Vice Chairman of EFG Holding’s Board of Directors. During his work as EFG Holding’s previous Chief Executive Officer in 2003, Mr. El Mallawany has played a key role in driving the consolidation of Egypt’s investment banking sector and facilitated the emergence of EFG Hermes as the leading regional investment bank. Alongside his position at EFG Hermes KSA, Mr. El Mallawany is a Director and Partner at Square Forty. He is also a board member of Arabian Food Industries Company (Domty), Commercial International Investment Company (CIIC), and a Board of Trustees member at the EFG Foundation. Throughout his prolific career extending over 35 years, Mr. El Mallawany held several positions in local and international institutions, such as board member of the National Investment Bank (Egypt), Bank Audi (Lebanon), Credit Libanais (Lebanon), Cairo & Alexandria Stock Exchanges, and the Capital Market Authority (Egypt). Among the C-level positions previously held by Mr. El Mallawany were the Chairman of ACE General and ACE Life Insurance Companies, the Chairman of Fleming-CIIC, the first Cairo-based regional investment bank, and the Chairman of EFG Hermes Private Equity. He was also elected as a Member of the Advisory Council of Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA, USA) from June 2007 to March 2014. He began his career at the Commercial International Bank (CIB), (formerly Chase National Bank), where his tenure spanned over 16 years, last serving as the General Manager of the Corporate Banking Division. Mr. El Mallawany joined EFG Holding at the time of the firm’s merger with the Commercial International Investment Co. (CIIC). Mr. El Mallawany holds a BA in Accounting from Cairo University.

Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Awad was Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Banking platform with an overall responsibility for managing the firm’s Investment Banking, Securities Brokerage, Research, Asset Management, and Private Equity divisions. Earlier he was head of Investment Banking, having joined the division in 1998. Mr. Awad has a long track record advising major corporations on equity offerings and M&A transactions and was instrumental in the development of EFG Hermes’s debt advisory practice. During his tenure in the Investment Banking division, he led and closed transactions with an aggregate value of more than USD 40 billion.

Mr. Wael Sarwat Aref is an independent board member and Vice Chairman of the Board of EFG Hermes KSA since July 2018. Mr. Aref has 20 years of experiences in many multinationals such as G4S, Pepsico & Schneider Electric. Mr. Aref graduated in 1999 from Ain Shams University in Egypt with a Bachelor‘s in Accounting (English Department) and CMA holder.

Mr. Maged Ali Hassan is currently the Head of Brokerage and Board Member for EFG Hermes Saudi Arabia. He joined EFG Hermes Holding in 2001 as an institutional Broker, in 2007 moved to Hermes Saudi Arabia as Head of the trading desk, a position that he held until 2010 when he became Head of Securities Brokerage for KSA. With over 25 years’ experience in the market, Mr. Ali began his career in 1997 as a trader at Flemings CIIC Securities Brokerage and worked his way up to head the trading desk prior to the CIIC merger with EFG Hermes. Mr. Ali has also served as acting CEO of EFG Hermes Saudi Arabia from December 2010 to July 2011 and from April 2017 till June 2018 and the CEO From July 2018 to June 2022 .

Saud joined EFG Hermes KSA in 2022. He has over 15 years of experience in investment banking and was most recently Head of KSA Investment Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, having joined them in 2019. Prior to that, Saud was the Chief Executive Officer of Swicorp where he spent over 9 years building on his extensive experience across Investment Banking, Asset Management and Private Equity. Prior to Swicorp, Saud worked at NCB Capital's Investment Banking JV with Goldman Sachs where he focused on M&A, and at Banque Saudi Fransi in Project Finance and Syndication. Saud has Bachelor’s degree of science in Business Administration from Suffolk University , Boston , MA, USA.

Dr. Khalid Alsweilem is the Independent Chairman of the Board of EFG Hermes KSA. He is a world-renowned expert in sovereign wealth funds and economic policy, bringing over 30 years of global experience. Dr. Alsweilem previously served as Chief Investment Officer and Director General of Investment at the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA-the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia), where he was instrumental in directing Saudi Arabia’s investment strategies. At EFG Hermes KSA, Dr. Alsweilem provides strategic oversight while supporting the Firm’s mission to deliver tailored financial solutions, guiding the organization’s commitment to client value, and bolstering its regional economic impact. Alongside his position at EFG Hermes KSA, Dr. Alsweilem was appointed by Ninety-One as Chief Global Sovereign Funds Advisor Ninety One Investment Institute and Chairman of its new Saudi Arabian entity Ninety One Capital in 2023 , where he leads the Firm’s regional strategy. He also serves as a member on the boards of CENOMI Group and Gulf International Bank (GIB). Dr. Alsweilem was previously the Chairman of the Board for Ashmore Investment Saudi Arabia, as well as a member of the Board of Directors for SAMBA Financial Group and Fajr Capital. His career also includes previous advisory roles, such as Global Sovereign Wealth Funds Advisor at Price Waterhouse Cooper (PWC). He is currently a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University’s Center for Sustainable Development and Global Competitiveness (SDGC) and the Stanford Research Initiative on Long-term Investment. Moreover, Dr. Alsweilem was a Visiting Scholar at the MIT Golub Center for Finance and Policy and a former Research Fellow at the Center for International Development (CID), Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He is also a former Fellow Expert at Harvard Kennedy School Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Dr. Alsweilem holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a Post-Doctoral fellowship in economics at Harvard University. He has published numerous scholarly pieces centered around the study of sovereign wealth funds focusing on Saudi Arabia’s reserve sovereign funds and their links to the real economy, with recent work released by Stanford University and MIT.

Mr. Mohamed Hussain Amer started his career in EFG-Hermes Holding in November 2005 in the Accounting Department of one of the group’s brokerage arms in Egypt. He went on to take up various roles within the group’s subsidiaries, namely Hermes Asset Management and EFG-Hermes Holding until he became the General Manager of Accounts for Financial Brokerage Group. Amer joined EFG Hermes KSA in January 2017 as an Accounting Manager. In August 2017 he went on to become the Finance Director. From February 2019 to July 2023, he managed Operations & Custody department in addition to his role as Finance Director. Mr. Amer holds a Bachelor of Commerce, with an Accounting specialization (English Section) 2005.

Mr. Hisham Shoukry is the Operations & custody manager of EFG Hermes KSA . Mr. Shoukry has over 15 years of securities services experience within EFG Hermes. He manages all the firm’s operations and custody activities in KSA . Mr. Shoukry holds a Bachelor of Economics (English Section) 2006.

Ramy Elessawy joined EFG Hermes UAE in 2005. Over the past 19 years, he has played an integral role in managing key institutional relationships, particularly across the GCC, and has been instrumental in cross-selling products and enhancing services through collaboration with various departments. With a proven track record in equity sales, Ramy expanded the firm’s market share by driving business growth, leveraging client engagement, and overseeing some of the biggest IPO placements in the region’s history. During his tenure at EFG Hermes, Ramy has achieved significant milestones, working on various IPO mandates in the region. He plays a major role in widening EFG Hermes’s client base in the GCC region, leveraging the firm’s capabilities to offer the best services for investors. Ramy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The American University in Cairo.

Hany Al Ghandour is the Head of Family Offices & HNWI Sales at EFG Hermes KSA, a position he assumed in April 2024. Prior to this, he served as Managing Director and Head of MENA Family Offices & HNWI Sales at EFG Hermes in Cairo from 2018 to 2024. In this role, Hany managed high-level investor relationships across the GCC, including family offices & Ultra-HNWI, and collaborated with various EFG Hermes departments to enhance service offerings. He was instrumental in driving business growth by cross-selling products and fostering strong client relationships. From 2016 to 2018, Hany held the position of Director and Head of MENA Family Offices & HNWI Sales, where he managed key accounts and played a critical role in major IPOs, including the Emaar Malls IPO. His efforts contributed to a significant increase in both client base and traded volume for EFG Hermes. Over the years, Hany has built a reputation for his expertise in client relationship management, market research, and capital raising across the GCC and MENA regions. Hany holds a Bachelor of Commerce & Business Administration, majoring in Accounting, from Helwan University in Cairo, Egypt, where he graduated in 2000. Additionally, he has completed a certified intensive investment banking course with DC Gardner-Euro Money.

He heads a top-ranked team of economists, analysts and capital markets’ strategists in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia, and has taken remarkable strides in expanding EFG Hermes’ coverage to 27 Emerging and Frontier markets. He led the team to top international rankings by global institutions consistently, including the 1st place in Frontier Markets and the 2nd place in MENA several times by Thomson Reuters Extel Survey / Institutional Investors (II), and the 1st place by the Saudi Stock Exchange Tadawul (Capital Markets Awards 2022 and 2023).
